Old Sites - Asserta home

Asserta home was the market leading property portal, which offered listings from pretty much all estate agents in the UK and the ability to arrange viewings of properties and view many of the essential details online.

They acquired smove.com in October 2000 and with it all the staff, and content. This content was one of the major factors behind smove, as we had some of the best experts in the industry writing for the site, and people with very good contacts.

We then joined assertahome and went about redesigning the site so that it could accommodate this new content. It was then decided the we needed a bigger redesign to create content rich channels. I worked with an editorial team and some external designers on redesigning the site, and we launched with the new content in early 2001.

By mid 2001, we decided to again redesign the site to include yet more channels to the site to offer even more advice, greater functionality, and the ability for sponsorship and advertorials.

In August 2001, I designed a new email template so that we could contact our users with content specific to them, based on answers they had given us in the registration process.

I then decided to leave the company in early September 2001, to seek new challenges and take a bit of time off, only for the tragic events of September 11th to happen and put everything into perspective. I then spent the next 4 months travelling round the country and Eire visiting friends and family before returning to work (full time) in February 2002.

The site is no longer live. It has been taken over by propertyfinder.
